How To Downgrade 2.80

~

If your PSP is already a 2.80 or if you have just upgraded to 2.80:

~

Download the 2.80 DOWNGRADER and extract the files to your desktop.

Please read Important Downgrading Information before you proceed.

  • This downgrader is for version 2.80 firmware only.
  • This downgrader works on all motherboards TA-079 through TA-086.
  • This downgrader will automatically patch your TA-082 motherboard.
  • It is the appropriate downgrader regardless of the region.

Read the Readme.txt file and follow the directions to the letter or you will brick your PSP.

A note on the TA-082 Motherboard for 2.80:

If you are already at 2.80 it does not matter for downgrading/upgrading whether or not you have the TA-082 motherboard. HOWEVER, it might matter for you later if you attempt to add some mods or other add-ons.

For this reason the Monkey recommends that you read “Does your PSP have a TA-082 Motherboard?” and determine whether your PSP has the TA-082 motherboard.

If you do have a TA-082 motherboard, always read the ReadMe text for any additional mods or add-ons to see if the TA-082 motherboard will have any effect.

Instructions:

You must plug in your A/C Adaptor and have your battery more than 75% full before you start.

Step 1.

Connect your PSP to the computer with the PSP USB cable, and connect your AC adapter to the PSP.

Step 2.

Turn the PSP on to USB mode as follows:
Go all the way to the left in your PSP menu to Settings
Go up to the option USB connection and press X

PSP USB connection screen

Step 3.

Your computer should tell you that it has recognized a new drive, or words to that effect.

Step 4.

On your computer go to My Computer & find the drive letter for the PSP, (e.g. - F: or C:) right click that drive letter, then click Explore. (You are now looking at your PSP memory stick.)

Step 5.

Back-up your Memory Stick by copying everything on your Memory Stick to a folder on your computer.

Step 6.

Format your Memory Stick.

Step 7.

Reset your PSP back to the default settings.
Go to Settings –> System Settings –> Format Memory Stick

Go to Settings –> System Settings –> Restore Default Settings

Step 8.

On your computer open the 2.80 DOWNGRADER folder. Double click 2.80-1.50DownGrade.exe, choose your PSP drive by clicking “Browse” then select “Removable Disk” then extract and everything is installed.

Step 9.

If you have a UMD in the PSP remove it. On your PSP’s XMB (main menu) go to the PHOTO menu then start HEN_280. It will freeze and/or crash (keep trying, it might take a good few times to work; took me 5 times,) or it will flash a light blue color and then reboot.

Step 10.

After it reboots, go to the GAME menu in the XMB (main menu) and choose “TA-082 IdStorage Change.” Let that change your idstorage. It will reboot back to XMB when finished. If you got a message saying “This PSP doesn’t seem to be a TA-082″ that’s fine.

Step 11.

Go to the GAME menu in the XMB and Choose “PSP Update ver X.YZ.” When you enter the program, wait until it loads. Next, when asked, press X and the downgrade will start. When it’s finished you will be asked to press x to restart.

Step 12.

When it restarts an error message will appear. Press O then it will restart again, then enter in your settings and you’re done. If you get a black screen after pressing O, just press the screen brightness button to sort that problem out.

Your PSP is now at Version 1.5.

Now go to Custom Firmware Update
