How To Downgrade 3.50

If your PSP is already a Version 3.50 or you have just upgraded to 3.50:
Download the 3.50 DOWNGRADER and extract the files to your desktop.
Please read Important Downgrading Information before you proceed.
Warning: After downgrading from 3.50 to 1.50,
there are some remnants of 3.50 left in flash.
If you later try to re-upgrade to 3.50 and
repeat the downgrade, things will break.
(Don’t worry; upgrading to 3.40 OE-A firmware from 1.50 as described below still works fine.)
You will be using the 3.50 DOWNGRADER and your Lumines UMD with the code ULUS 10002 (US version) or ULES 00043 (European version) during the downgrading process.
How to determine if you have the correct version of Lumines:
In order to downgrade from version 3.50 to version 1.5 you need to get a copy of the PSP game Lumines with the code ULUS 10002 (US version) or ULES 00043 (European version.) This game has a specific code in it that is required in order to achieve the downgrading.
To determine if you have the correct version of Lumines look for the code on the edge of an unopened sealed box, or on the game UMD itself just below the Playstation logo.

Borrow a copy from a friend or rent one from GameFly, but check it out as above before using it to downgrade. It is also available on eBay. You only need the game while you are downgrading. After you have finished the process outlined in this guide any PSP UMD will work to allow you to play games.

Watch this short video if you want to see someone downgrading a 3.50 PSP. Please note that the video incorrectly states the number of the US version; the correct US version is ULUS 10002.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Here are eleven steps to downgrade any version 3.50 PSP to version 1.50:
Step 1.
Connect your PSP to the computer with the PSP USB cable, and connect your AC adapter to the PSP.
Keep it plugged in to this power supply during the entire procedure.
Also make certain that your battery is at least 75% charged or the downgrader will not continue.
Step 2.
Turn the PSP on to USB mode as follows:
Go all the way to the left in your PSP menu to Settings
Go up to the option USB connection and press X

Step 3.
Your computer should tell you that it has recognized a new drive, or words to that effect.
Step 4.
On your computer go to My Computer & find the drive letter for the PSP, (e.g. - F: or C:) right click that drive letter, then click Explore. (You are now looking at your PSP memory stick.)
Step 5.
On your computer open the 3.50 DOWNGRADER folder. Inside you will find a PSP folder. Copy the PSP folder to the root directory of your PSP. This will overwrite the folder that you already have.
Step 6.
Load your UMD of the correct version of Lumines into your PSP. The game will load as it normally would. Press X to start the game and the screen will clear to black and fill with a light blue color, then the PSP will reset itself. If this does not happen try it again.
Step 7.
Check that HEN (Homebrew Enabler) is running by going to
- System Settings –> System Information.
You should see System Version 3.50 HEN.
Step 8.
If it is showing up as HEN then go to:
- Game –> Memory Stick, and run the X.YZ update.
Step 9.
If you have an unpatched TA-082 or higher motherboard, you will be prompted to allow the downgrader to patch your motherboard so it can be safely downgraded. The downgrader will not let you proceed without patching, if your motherboard requires it.
(For information on how to identify the TA-082 motherboard, see Part 1, p. 5-7)
Step 10.
Before the downgrader does anything to your PSP it will ask you to agree to what it is doing. If you no longer want to continue, press the Right Shoulder Button (R-TRIGGER).
Once you have agreed to start the downgrade do not unplug the PSP, or try to restart it.
Step 11.
When it has finished, the PSP will ask you to press X, and it will reset itself.
If it brings up a screen saying that the settings are corrupt, that is OK. Press X again to continue.

You should be at version 1.50 now.
Now go to Custom Firmware Upgrade

Troubleshooting:
- Ensure that you have the correct version of Lumines with the correct identifying number on the UMD. If it is not the correct one, then it is a later version of the game and cannot be used to downgrade.

Cool website btw
At this time there is no way to downgrade the 3.90 or any PSP that is higher than 3.50. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the compliment on our site.
OMG so scared because this is my first time doing something this risky. What are the chances of “bricking” your PSP, like an average? I hope it is low. Well may noob luck be with me ^ - ^
well i will give a shot
