I can’t write a guide for how to do this at the moment because I don’t have another psp that I can use to try it on.

There are some video guides on youtube you can use, but most that I saw did not look very well done.

If you want to try and use them I’m sure some of them might work but do so at your own risk.

We said we would get the update for 3.90 M33-2 up and ready by April 1, and here it is March 31. Well, we actually have the update ready for an even newer version: 3.90 M33-3.

I hope that you find this was worth the wait.

You will have to follow the instructions carefully and do several upgrades in the correct order. We will outline it all for you. Do not attempt to go directly from your current version to 3.90 M33-2. You will brick your PSP.

We should have the software and instructions up by April 1, 2008. There may be other ways to do it, but we only want to show you the way that has worked for us.

We will send out an email to everyone on our list when we have the updates on the site.

First make sure your psp is using the 1.50 kernel.

Hold R and go into the recovery menu and check your configuration settings to see whether your PSP mode is set to 1.50 kernel. If it is not then set it to 1.50, and make sure that “No-UMD” is off and you have a game UMD in the psp .

Also make sure you put your game ISOs in the GAME150 folder on your psp. If you still get these errors try upgrading to a new custom firmware. In a few days we will have a gide up for how to upgrade to the newest Custom Firmware “3.71 M33-3″ so you can play all the newest games on your psp.

Indeed, even as I entered the store, wallet in hand and ready to pay the somewhat fearsome price, having braved the first step, I found that any complaints I previously possessed have either been solved already or will be in the near future.

As a gamer I found myself wondering, does the PS3 have enough games to be worth it? Even the most seasoned gamers will find themselves shaky at the thought of paying out $500 for a newly released system without the benefit of the large gaming library that most systems gain a year or so after release.

Should you have had the same concerns as I did you’ll be happy to find that they are being already assuaged by the ever-growing number of first and third-party game titles being announced every day (as well as those already previewed some time ago,) drawing closer and closer to release. Admittedly the PS3 doesn’t have nearly the practical armory of games available like the PS2 or even Xbox360, but what it does have will instantly show just why the PS3 is a “next-gen” console.

Now, I’ll tell you one thing first, even if you do not happen to desire the immediate dosage of gaming goodness that the PS3 can bring you in the form of titles such as Resistance: Fall of Man or The Darkness, you’ll still have a rather cheaply obtained and completely functional blu-ray player, along with DVD upscaling capabilities as a side bonus to boot. Finally, you’ll have the ability to connect your PS3 to your wireless network, which will enable you to play videos, mp3’s, and even surf the internet on your TV.

But, why buy a 60 GB version right now when the 80GB version is available? Here’s why you should rush to the store before the 60 GB version is all gone:

the current 60GB version PS3, unlike the more expensive 80GB, has a chip within it specifically built to allow emulation of PS1/PS2 games, whereas the 80GB version possesses an inferior software emulation program. Obviously for those of you interested in the PS3’s game upscaling/version emulation capabilities the fact that the 60GB PS3 has ceased production, and thus will only be present in stores for a limited time, would be a matter of some concern.

Should you happen to really need the space or perhaps love Motorstorm, the 80GB would be your preffered choice. Otherwise though, I’d highly recommend picking up the 60GB version instead. If you are, like I am, more interested in being able to play your old favorites in higher resolution, as well as enjoy the PS3’s games, than paying $100 more for a little extra space and a free game, get thee to Amazon ASAP. You’ll also get FIVE FREE Blu-ray movies if you buy the PS3 soon.

Great News!

You can now downgrade all versions of PSP from 1.51 through 3.50.

Naturally, Sony is now marketing the 3.51 and 3.52, which cannot be downgraded - yet.

Before you begin any downgrade read the Important Downgrade Info page. Be sure you know your current version and, if you have a 1.51 through 2.71, whether you have a TA-082 Motherboard.

Remember: incorrectly modifying your PSP can leave you with a brick!

What You Need to Know About PSP Versions

The first American PSP was version 1.50. Sony has released many upgraded versions of the PSP since then, along with upgrade patches for earlier versions of the PSP.

As of this date (July 2007) the new PSPs are version 3.51.

In order to play downloaded games and movies you have to get your PSP back to the original 1.50 version. This is sometimes referred to as the “Golden Version” for obvious reasons.

To get your PSP back to version 1.50 you have to downgrade the version you currently have. However, depending on the version you now have, you may have to upgrade before you downgrade.

(Sound complicated? Don’t worry, PSP-Monkey will explain all.)

Once your PSP is back to version 1.50 you can then use an upgrader to upgrade your PSP to a higher custom version. Following the PSP-Monkey Website you will be upgrading to version 3.40 OE-A, created by Dark_Alex.

This 3.40 OE-A custom firmware allows you to do everything the official Sony 3.40 version does, and:

• run downloaded games;
• play PSOne (PSX) games;
• use plugins, such as CWCheat, SVCapture, POPS Loader, and MP3 PRX;
• increase the brightness level above normal;
• change the processor speed so you can run games faster; and
• it adds a recovery console that may assist in the event of semi-brick conditions.

Did I already say this? Read all instructions for your version before you do anything. Also read the entire ReadMe.txt for your firmware version before you begin downgrading or upgrading.
