WARNING:
The Monkey wants you to know that attempting to modify your PSP could result in a useless PSP “Brick,” rather than an awesome, cool, customized PSP.
Please take note:
PSP-Monkey did not create the downgraders and upgraders that are available on this website and takes no responsibility for their contents or performance. PSP-Monkey is merely informing our website visitors of the steps that we and many others have taken to successfully downgrade and custom upgrade PSPs and making software available that we believe will accomplish this. While we are confident in this process, based on our own success, PSP-Monkey in no way guarantees the success of this process.
You run the risk of permanently damaging your PSP if you attempt to modify it. You follow these guides and use the software at your own risk.

MOST IMPORTANT:
DO NOT UPDATE YOUR PSP UNTIL YOU READ THIS!!!!!
DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY PATCH FROM SONY!!!
READ THIS GUIDE FIRST!!!
You will need:
- a PSP with A/C Adapter
- a PSP USB cable (not just any old USB cable that you have lying around)
- a GOOD Memory Stick with minimum 1 GB memory (2 GB is recommended)
- any PSP game UMD
- For Versions 2.81 through 3.50: You will need the version ULUS10002 US (US version) or ULES00043 UK (European version) of the game Lumines to allow the homebrew installer to work on your PSP. (Read on for more information on this)
Note: If you do not have a game UMD (game disk) in the PSP you cannot play downloaded games.
Exception: Downloaded PSOne games do not need a PSP game disk in the PSP in order to run.

How to Identify Your PSP’s Version and Motherboard
~
1.Turn on your PSP and go to
- Settings –> System Settings –> System Information.
Read the System Software information. This will tell you your version.
~
2. Now look up your PSP version on this chart. This will tell you where to start.
|
3.51 and higher |
To downgrade any psp 3.51 and higher you will need to use a pandora battery. When we get a new psp to test with we will make a Pandora Battery guide. |
|
3.50 |
Go to the 3.50 Downgrade Section |
| 3.40, 3.11, 3.10, 3.02, 3.01, 3.00, 2.81 | Go to the 2.81 - 3.40 Downgrade Section |
|
2.80 |
Go to the 2.80 Downgrade Section |
| For the earlier PSP versions 1.51 - 2.71 | You need to determine whether or not your PSP has a TA-082 motherboard. Continue reading for more information. |

The TA-082 Motherboard
~
IMPORTANT: If you are now at version 1.51 through 2.71 you need to check to see whether you have the TA-082 motherboard.
If you have the TA-082 motherboard, you have to upgrade to 2.80. If you do not upgrade to 2.80 you will “brick” your PSP.
To see the printed circuit board: open the PSP as if you were inserting a disk. Hold it so that you can see the upper right inner edge of the green motherboard. If there is no writing or numbers on it, then you do not have the TA-082 motherboard.
If you see IC1003 you do have the TA-082 motherboard. Here is a picture of what to look for and where to look for it. The area to examine is highlighted by the red rectangle.

Go to the 1.50 Downgrade Section |
|
1.51 - 2.70 WITHOUT THE TA-082 Motherboard |
Go to the 2.71 Upgrade Section |
